What are you drinking this season?  If you’re hung up on the same old favorite, try breaking out with a different twist:  enjoy a cocktail made with Westford Hill Distillers fruit spirits!  We’re enjoying some of these perennial favorites, and a few new twists.

And remember, simple syrup is easy to make at home.  Just boil 1 cup water and stir in 1 cup of sugar and stir until it’s dissolved.  If you want to add a special savory flavor, toss in a spring of rosemary or sage.  Or zest lemons or limes and soak the zest.  Let it simmer gently with the sugar and water blend for two minutes, then just turn it off and let it sit on the stove until it’s cool.  Store in the refrigerator.  You’ll find lots of ways to use it!


French Foam
1/2 oz. New World Aged Apple Brandy
1/2 oz. Westford Hill Distillers Kirsch eau-de-vie
1 1/2 oz. sugar syrup
3 Dashes Angostura® Bitters
7 oz. Dry Sparkling Wine

Pour all ingredients into a highball glass.  Add a dusting of lemon or orange sorbet on top, and serve.

Rendezvous
1/2 oz. Campari
1 1/2 oz. gin
1 oz. Westford Hill Distillers Kirsch eau-de-vie

Shake well in shaker with ice and strain into a chilled glass.

Sidecar
1 ½ oz. Westford Hill Distillers Pear William eau-de-vie
1/2 oz. lemon juice
1/2 oz. simple syrup
1 oz. pear nectar

Pour ingredients into cocktail shaker with ice. Shake until the outside of the shaker has frosted. Strain into a chilled martini glass to serve.

Jack Rose
2 oz. Westford Hill Distillers NewWorld Aged Apple Brandy
Juice of half a lime
Dash of Grenadine

Shake with ice, strain into a cocktail glass

Pear Provence
1 Tbsp. Fresh-squeezed Lemon Juice
2 oz. Westford Hill Distillers Pear William
1 Tbsp. Rosemary Simple Syrup (see below)

Blend lemon juice, Pear William and Rosemary syrup together in a shaker with ice.  Shake.  Pour into martini glass.  Garnish with fresh rosemary tip. 

New World Collins
2 oz. Westford Hill Distillers New World Aged Apple Brandy
juice of 1 large lemon
up to 1 tablespoon sugar syrup
Club soda

Pour the Brandy, lemon and syrup into a tall Collins glass, add ice cubes and top the glass to full with soda.

Venetian Sunrise
Fill glass with Ice
Add 1 1/oz. Pear or
Kirsch eau-de-vie
Fill glass with Orange Juice
Place spoon in glass and pour Campari down the spoon

Westford Hill Heat Wave
1 oz. Westford Hill Distillers Fraise (Strawberry) Eau-de-vie
1 oz. Westford Hill Distillers
 Pear William eau-de-vie
1 oz. Coconut Rum
Pineapple Juice

Blend the ingredients in a shaker filled with ice, and strain into a cocktail glass.  Garnish with fresh sliced strawberry.
(If desired, add club soda to cut the sweetness and add spritz)

Strawberry Patch
2/3 oz. Vodka
2/3 oz. Westford Hill Distillers Fraise (Strawberry) Eau-de-vie
2/3 oz. Dry Vermouth
2-3 dashes of bitters
½ tsp. orange zest simple syrup, or an orange liqueur
1 tsp. fresh lemon or lime juice

Shake together with ice, and serve in a cocktail glass.  Garnish with a sliced strawberry.

Honey Bee Dessert Cocktail
1 oz. Westford Hill Distillers Kirsch (Cherry) or Framboise (Raspberry) Eau-de-vie
½ oz. honey
½ oz fruit liqueur
2 oz. cream or half & half
½ oz. Grenadine
Cracked Ice.

Blend all ingredients in a cocktail shaker and serve in a cocktail glass.  Garnish with a flower.
